CCR 1 - Reflection

 4/6/26

Now that my CCR 1 is complete, I am reflecting on how my podcast skills have improved. This time, the editing process felt much easier because I am now more familiar with Adobe Audition. I was able to insert clips, adjust levels, and organize the timeline more efficiently, and I created a smoother flow between the host and myself as the speaker.

One area where I improved was choosing background music. I had a clear sense of the tone I wanted, but I needed to find something that balanced well with our voices. I spent a lot of time adjusting sound levels, testing what was too loud or too soft, and making sure the music supported the episode without overpowering it. This helped me understand mixing more intentionally.

There were still challenges. The recording device created an echo that affected the clarity of our voices, and I had to work around that during editing. I also struggled with deciding where transitions, stings, or sound effects made sense. In this type of podcast, those elements are not used very often, so I wanted to show my proficiency without forcing them into places where they didn’t belong. Balancing the technical requirements with what felt natural for the genre was the biggest challenge, but it ultimately helped me grow in my understanding of sound design.
