Critical Reflection 3 - Planning
Today we began planning our Creative Critical Reflection 3, which asks “How did your production skills develop throughout this project?” To present my response in a more creative format, I decided to design a magazine featuring an interview with the producer about the making of our film. I started by drafting interview questions and outlining the main ideas I want to cover. These include how our preliminary tasks shaped the final project, how our individual and group roles developed, and the challenges we encountered, especially with time management, filming logistics, and staying organized.
I also want to discuss how learning to use a shot list and script helped us stay on track, the importance of filming early, and how prioritizing certain shots made production smoother. We found it was most efficient to film each room in order, which made editing easier and ensured we did not miss any scenes. I plan to reflect on how we handled audio, clarified group responsibilities, and improved areas that felt rushed in post‑production. Another key point is the challenge of creating visual variety within a single main filming location and making sure each shot conveyed the right meaning. Finally, I want to touch on the overall production process, from designing our studio logo to building the film’s atmosphere, and how the preliminary projects were intentionally designed to teach us through mistakes. Strong communication, choosing group members wisely, balancing school and home work time, and maintaining consistent, aesthetically pleasing blog posts and CCRs were all major parts of my growth throughout this project.
I decided to use PowerPoint to begin designing the pages for the magazine, since it allowed me to control the layout, experiment with different visual styles, and organize the interview content in a clean, professional format. Once the layout is finalized, I will begin placing the information into each section, organizing the interview responses, visuals, and production reflections so the magazine reads clearly and feels realistic.
