Podcast - Dancing with the Stars

For our Media Studies project, we were tasked with creating a five‑minute podcast that demonstrated our understanding of key sound concepts, including dialogue, sound mixing, sound effects, stings, theme music, incidental music, and a scripted opening monologue. We planned, recorded, and edited the entire episode in Adobe Audition, which required us to organize our outline, script, roles, and sound design before beginning production.

This was my first experience using any Adobe audio software, and it ended up being incredibly valuable. Learning how to navigate Adobe Audition, adjusting levels, layering tracks, adding effects, and creating smooth transitions, gave me a much stronger foundation in sound editing. It also made me feel more confident going into our later assignments, especially when adding audio to our film. Understanding how sound shapes mood, clarity, and pacing helped me approach future projects with a more professional and intentional mindset.

For our podcast, we chose a topic we were already familiar with at the time: Dancing with the Stars. Our episode focused on reviewing that week’s dances and making predictions about who might win. Choosing a subject we genuinely enjoyed made the recording process feel more natural and helped us create a conversational, engaging tone that fit the podcast format well.

The podcast we created is attached below:
